About The Book: The Book of Enoch, attributed to the patriarch Enoch, provides insights into the origins of demons, Nephilim, and fallen angels, along with explanations for the Genesis flood and prophetic visions of the Messiah's reign. While not canonical for most Jewish or Christian groups, it was influential in early Christianity and Judaism. Rediscovered in the 17th century, it primarily exists in Ge'ez translation, with fragments found in Dead Sea Scrolls and other languages. About The Author: Richard Laurence (1760–1838) was an English Hebraist and Anglican clergyman. He held prestigious positions such as Regius Professor of Hebrew at Oxford and Archbishop of Cashel in Ireland. Laurence's significant contribution to Biblical studies includes his work on Ethiopic versions of pseudepigrapha like Ascensio Isaiæ Vatis and The Book of Enoch the Prophet. Despite being superseded, Laurence's efforts revived the study of Ethiopic in England. He also published The Book of Job.
